THE WRITING DIARIES | STARTING #CAMPNANOWRIMO & WRITING GOALS

Saturday, April 07, 2018

The time has finally come and like in most things in my life, I'm totally unprepared.
Starting #NaNoWriMo back in November was a huge deal for me: I've never written a whole book and I've never sat at my desk all day, every day. But I won. And I didn't even have to reach the end of the month trying to catch my breath because I wrote 50K words the week before NaNo was supposed to end.
I felt amazing.
And tired.
But I did it, I had half a book already written, a story unfolding right in front of my eyes and characters I grew to love. But my brain was out if it completely.
After writing every day (except Sundays, I took those for myself!) and stressing out about the whole plot and where the characters were headed, I just couldn't do it anymore and I decided to take a break.
A two months break.
I sat at my desk again in February, working at my novel and really enjoying the feeling of it, the typing, the telling, the whole experience was just one of a kind but then again, I stopped and waited.
For what I still don't know but I kinda knew I needed that push that got me through the whole month of November, the community around #NaNoWriMo and the writing sprints on Twitter. I needed that. I needed motivation and I also needed someone to tell me that I was doing the right thing, that one day it would pay it all off.
Maybe that is why I stopped.
But #CampNaNoWriMo is just around the corner and I'm so excited and relieved!

As I'm writing this, I'm 70K words in.
My initial thought was to have a 100K words novel, something I could have worked on in the next step, the editing part, and all I need right now is another 30K. And I don't even think is that hard, tbh, to reach that goal and carry on finishing the novel.

But I also have this little corner of the Internet to take care of and if I'm writing 24/7 that is quite an impossible task unless I sell my soul to the devil and stop sleeping or eating or breathing. #dramaqueen
But that is also why I'm trying to write 30 posts before March ends and if you're finding new content on the blog, every single day, you can pat me on the shoulder. Or build a statue in my honour. Or send cake. You decide.

#CampNaNoWriMo Goals:
1. hit that 100k mark before the end of April
2. finish the novel
3. write at least 1k every single day
4. avoid brain meltdown
