A FEW THINGS THAT HELPED ME BEAT THE WINTER BLUES

Thursday, April 05, 2018

The struggle was real, my friends.
This winter has been vile, Jon Snow might have loved it but me? Nope. No sir.
And I LOOOOVE winter but this year has been too much, too cold and too long.
I spent most days covered in blankets, walking around the house like a mad woman, with a train of blankets behind me, looking for a heat source. It was madness.
And although it's Spring, I'm still rocking my over the knee Christmas socks. #thatshowIroll

But thank God it's almost gone now, it was just so depressing, cold and dark all the time that I felt like I was in Narnia, only without William Moseley brightening up my days with his sword
(no pun intended! you dirty minds!).

Now, if you wanna know how I got through the depressive winter blues, keep on reading!

1. tv-series
like, A LOT of them. I don't know about you but nothing is quite relaxing as a night in, comfortably buried under a mountain of blankets with your laptop right in front of me, streaming tv-series.
This winter blessed me with a lot of new ones like #TheGoodDoctor and #TheGifted and #YoungSheldon
I could go on and list them all for you but I'll save that for another post 😉

2. books & movies
that's quite an abvious one since I'm a book blogger and I happen to actually truly enjoy reading.
I read some unexpected good ones, like #ACOTAR and #AllTheCrookedSaints (book review here) as well as great movies such as #LadyBird and #CallMeByYourName and also #ThreeBillboardsOutsideEbbingMissouri
I think it was a very good year for movies.

3. youtube
I don't usually waste that much time on Youtube, tbh, but this winter was just #ugh and I needed something else.
I watched A LOT of YT, especially vlogs which is surprising since I've never been into vlogs.
My absolute favourites were Helen Anderson's, so fun and relaxing and I could honestly watch her clean her entire house (which I did) and never get bored.

4. writing
I had a very hard time writing after NaNoWriMo ended, I felt like I gave it all and I had nothing left but after two months of just staring at a blank page (or pretending I didn't have half a manuscript ready to be finished), I wanted to go back and start writing again. And it was SO GOOD!
As I'm writing this, I'm waiting for #CampNaNoWriMo to start so I can finally put an end to this novel 🤞

5. bookstagram
If you didn't know already, I do have an Instagram account where I post pretty pics of books (other than the puppy)
I don't know what took me so long to finally give up and have fun with backgrounds and combinations of candles and dried oranges and leaves, seriously!
Now, this is where I put a shameless self-promo.

And here you have it, all the things that helped me survive this long ass winter!
If you have any book (or movie/tv-series) recommendations, feel free to leave them in the comments down below, I'm always on the hunt for something new!
Ciao!  🌙
