use unwanted books for DIY

We all have them: the books we don't want anymore but keep clinging to them like a lifebelt on the open sea.
If you're a bookworm, chances are you already gave up on having a drawer for your socks because every piece of furniture is wasted if it's not full of books. Am I right?
Well, it's time to take them all out, give them a little dust and use them in a different and creative way.

1. INSTAGRAM PURPOSES
Sometimes it's hard to think of a nice display for your book other that wrinkled duvet. But if you have books you don't need anymore, it's not a mortal sin to rip off the pages and using them as a background for your #bookstagram! Duvet and sheets are nice and cosy looking but sometimes you gotta think out of the box!

2. DIY PROJECTS
All you need is fantasy and the will to get your hands dirty, oh, and maybe Pinterest too.
I'm obsessed with all the DIY projects I find on Pinterest, with or without books. Did you know you can turn your unwanted books into a lamp? A LAMP! What? Yes!
Or you can rip the pages off and make a beautiful drawing or use them as simple decor on the wall.

3. SIMPLE DECOR
If you have shelves in your living room and you don't know how to make the most of the space, take those books, stock them nicely on the shelf backward. You don't want to see those colourful spines if you want to give the space a nice clean look! Or you can stack them starting from the floor if you have a dead area you don't quite know what to do with it! Or just simply open up the books and stick them on the wall right above your bed, for a vintage and quite unique looking headboard!

4. BLACKOUT POETRY
This one is my favourite way to get rid of books I don't want anymore. I have a lot of them and they all end up in the pages of my journal with some kind of poetry getting out of the page. If you don't know what blackout poetry is, well, let me explain it to you. It's basically the art of finding words among others that speak to your heart and word after word, you give them a meaning, turning them into poetry and deleting all the rest by simply blacking them out with a marker, like so

5. DONATE
If you have too many books that you just don't want around anymore, the easiest way to get rid of them is to donate them. There are schools and libraries that need those books, or you can sell them at a market if you want to make a little penny!

LET'S CHAT!
What do you usually do with the books you don't want anymore? You sell them or you give them away to friends and families or libraries?
